| Neue Freunde 1. Zum aktuellen Stand von art, science & business Reihe Projektiv Date of release: 2003 Jean-Baptiste Joly (ed.) |
||||||
| “Neue Freunde” (New Friends) is the title of the magazine, which contains the outcome of the Akademie’s art science & business program. The first issue of “New Friends” consists of 184 pages, weighs 500 grams, comprises 19 contributions and numerous documents from 25 authors and has an image-word-relation of 1:684. “New Friends” presents the results of the two project groups “The Loneliness of the Networks” and “What is an error good for”. The magazine and primarily the projects themselves are part of a process initiated by the Akademie with its program art, science & business. Both topics served as a starting point for an open discussion with artists, scientists and managers over a period of six months. A magazine always being a concluding product, “New Friends” opens the internal discussion to the public for first time and documents the current status of art, science & business – as the subtitle states – and thus also remains within this process. The chronology of the magazine encompasses the initial advertisements in the search for young scientists and managers in the newspapers “Die Zeit” and “Economist” in August 2002 to the final statements from the 25 participants. The magazine therefore creates a forum for a wide variety of voices in the fields of art, science and business. The content is a diversified as the profiles of the participants. Scientific articles, interviews, discussions, artistic projects, personal statements, diaries from the business world and musical scores comprise the comprehensive material that the two project groups “What is an error good for” and the “The Loneliness of the Networks” collected and developed. The title “New Friends” denominates enthusiasm, uncertainness and the suspense of these encounters – like it is when you find new friends.
