exhibition
art, science & business

In the final year of the ongoing overall theme »Chronicles of Work« which has been addressing since 2011 in numerous interdisciplinary events the change in organization of working conditions in today’s society, the Akademie’s project room at Römerstraße will be turned into an exhibition experiment, for which the fellows will combine, compile and discuss fragments of their working processes.

With the opening in the early evening of June 20 the project space Römerstraße will become a walk-in and living archive which assembles fragments of research and elements of work, such as sketches, models, notes, and objects of daily use, in a collaborative action by the fellows. This collection will be accompanied by screenings, reading and listening experiments and a roundtable discussion in which the fellows will provide an insight into their daily artistic production at the Akademie.

The public is here not only invited to attend the event as visitors but also welcome to add their own objects to the assemblage and thereby to interact with the exhibition.

For the opening on June 20 at 5 p.m. we invite everyone to

bring something that is hung up on the wall
and/or
bring sketches, models, tools, photos, notes, excerpts etc.
and/or
books!

On Friday at 8 p.m. the opening will be subsequently followed by the performance UNSORCERY: Dead Thinking by the two fellows Alina Popa and Florin Flueras, taking place within the framework of the Vagabundenkongress in the Herbergssalon of Theater Rampe, Filderstraße 47.

»There is an absolutely obvious, normal step, almost a command, an obligation to do what one should do in order to secure and improve one's life. A healthy, alive thinking was developed around the obsession with life. We are attached to the features of this world, but this world is doomed, we are doomed ... obviously, death is much more powerful than life. A planetary decline affects our modes of perceiving, thinking and feeling. Somehow we register the changes and we are scared, but like in a stampede, we choose to reinforce and accelerate what the others are doing and what we know, our petit alive, healthy thinking. Dead Thinking is the post-political gesture that we can do in a time of extinction when politics, in the sense of organizing society and power relations between people, seems more and more a sedative for deadly thoughts. The oscillation between unknown and the worst, between dead thinking and deadly thinking could be the starting point of discussing a new kind of politics, knowledge and existence. Dead Thinking starts where the hopes end and the remaining options are rather negative, dark and dead.« (Alina Popa and Florin Flueras)
