Exhibition opening: Arbeitstitel. Working Title
11. March 2010 20:00 - 25. April 2010
Eastern European Network
In 2009/2010 the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw celebrates its 20-year anniversary. On the occasion of the many years of cooperation and the double anniversary, both Solitude and Ujazdowski planned a joint exhibition in 2009, which opened in Warsaw in November 2009 and is on view at Solitude as of March 2010.

The exhibition’s reflects on artistic residencies, institutions that have committed themselves to art as well as daily artistic practice, including both life and work, fallow periods and mobilized activity. The title Arbeitstitel. Working Title refers to the artistic processes’ exterior circumstances – for the exhibition, these circumstances are revealed with the terms of studio, private life and travel.

The expectations of future artistic residencies offer a starting point for ideas of usage and reappropriation. Altogether, 30 artists took part in the Warsaw exhibition. These were selected from Poland, the Akademie Schloss Solitude’s network, and those artists promoted by the Allianz Kulturstiftung in Eastern Europe. A portion of these artists show their work at the Akademie Schloss Solitude as well; by March 2010 additional artists will be added to the show.

The exhibition is organized by the Akademie Schloss Solitude in cooperation with the a-i-r laboratory of the Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle and is part of our Opening Our Closed Shops program.

With the financial support of the Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg and the Allianz Kulturstiftung.
