Short biographies of the artists

Bernardo Oyarzún (*1963 in Los Muermos, Llanquihue/Chile) studied visual arts at the University of Chile. His works have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in Chile as well as in numerous international biennales, including the Biennale of Valencia in 2007, the Pontevedra biennale (2006) and the PRAGUEBIENNALE1 in 2003. He is a 2009 Akademie fellow.

Sherae Rimpsey (*1970 in Cleveland, OH/USA), studied communications at the University of Akron, OH/USA. Her drawings oscillate between abstraction and figuration. The artist has been taking part in a »viewing program« at the New York Drawing Center since 2004, and is represented by Gallery Joe in Philadelphia. She is presently working with the transformation of her drawings through animation and experimental short film. Rimpsey was a Solitude fellow in 2008/2009.

José Carlos Teixeira (*1977 in Porto/Portugal) earned his Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of California (UCLA) in Los Angeles. He also studied at New York University, the Universidad del Pais Vasco in Bilbao, Spain, and the University of Porto, Portugal. In his artistic work, he deals primarily with the topics of delineation, identity and language. Teixeira has received numerous fellowships and prizes. He is a 2008/2009 fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude.

Gwen van den Eijnde (*1981 in Zierikzee/Netherlands) studied at the Institute for visual arts and textile design Ecole Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Strasbourg. As an artist and costume designer, he designed costumes for works such as »The History of Communism Told to the Mentally Ill«, Bucharest National Theater (2006) and »Ziad, Plume et le mur« (2008). In 2006, van den Eijnde received a fellowship at the Wa¬ter Mill Summer program at Robert Wilson’s Academy for Arts. Gwen van den Eijnde is a 2008/2009 fellow at the Akademie Schloss Solitude.
