Brief Memories for string trio
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Divertimento in E flat Major KV 563
The three musicians comprising the Ensemble Gagliano – Karina Buschinger (*1978 in Bucharest/Romania), violin, Aline Saniter (*1978 in Stuttgart), viola and Julian Steckel (*1982 in Zweibrücken), cello – have made a mission of discovering and reestablishing the concept of the string trio, which has long stood in the shadow of the string quartet, yet possesses its own unique qualities and expressive possibilities. The trio's members have studied in Freiburg, Duesseldorf, Vienna and Berlin, and have individually won numerous international competitions. They were heavily promoted as fellows at the Villa Musica Foundation in Mainz and the Gesellschaft für Westfälische Kulturarbeit (Society for Westphalian Culture) and received important artistic inspiration from Raine und Jürgen Kussmaul, Heinrich Schiff, Gustav Rivinius and Martin Ostertag. The ensemble has evolved into one of the best known of its generation and very active both domestically and abroad. The trio received the Rudolf Eberle Foundation's residential fellowship at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2010. The group performs the entire classical string trio repertoire as well as contemporary works modern composers. Virtuoso, technically perfect performances coupled with musical presence and powerful expression make the trio a fine example of chamber music and string culture.
