WORKSHOP: »DISSENSUS AND THE WORK OF LISTENING« WITH BILL DIETZ AND GAVIN STEINGO
In conjunction with the event series »Chronicles of Work III: What's Work Worth?«
11. May 2013 14:00
workshop

Since Fall 2012, the South African ethnomusicologist Gavin Steingo and the American composer Bill Dietz have been at work on a book entitled »Music and the Other Scene«. The book examines the »work of listening« both in relation to the dissensual consciousness of labor as described by Jacques Rancière, as well as in an insistence on listening as a re-inscriptive practice: that in listening's non-verbal structuring one always also folds oneself back into the collective.

The workshop will be made up of close reading and discussion of selections from the working manuscript (available upon registration), as well as a series of performative listening exercises – Dietz’ »tutorial diversions.«

Please register by Friday, May 3, 2013. E-mail: presse@akademie-solitude.de
