Born 1991 in Lecco/Italy.
Chiara Bugatti is a visual artist based in Sweden. She graduated from Accademia di Belle Arti di Venezia/Italy in visual and performative arts in 2014 and gained her Master’s degree from Umeå Academy of Fine Arts/Sweden in 2016. Funded by the Swedish Arts Grants Committee, she works as an assistant for Katarina Burin and researches at Harvard University archives in Cambridge, MA/USA in 2017.
Referencing sectorial sciences, oral culture, current politics and more distinctly art and architectural history, her sculptural practice reflects on the process of production and building, used as a medium to visualise relationships and presented as a playful collapse towards rationality.
In 2016, she exhibited in Kirchberg/Luxemburg as the culmination of the ADP Residency program mentored by Darren Almond and sponsored by the European Investment Bank. Her work has been shown at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Stockholm/Sweden as part of the group exhibition featuring Swedish emerging artists in 2016 and the same year she was awarded Anna-Lisa Thomson stipend for emerging women artists in Sweden and exhibited at Uppsala Art Museum.
During 2014 and 2015, her work was included in shows at Fondazione Pino Pascali, Bari/Italy, Piramida in Tirana/Albania, National Art Gallery in Cetinje/Montenegro and Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka/Croatia for the EU project CoExistence.
