Born 1971 in Cape Town.
Studied archeology at the University of Cape Town (1990-1993), biological anthropology at the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, and earned her MA in creative writing at the University of Cape Town in 1999.
Works as freelance literary editor, tutor in creative writing and scriptwriting at the University of Cape Town, and intermittently as screenwriter for film and television over the past five years.
As writer she has published the novels "Shark’s Egg" (Kwela Books, Cape Town, 2000) and "The Rock Alphabet" (Kwela Books, Cape Town, 2004). Participation at festivals like "Old Words, New Images: Conversations on South African Writing" (South Africa House, London, 2001), "5th Edinburgh Independent Radical Book Fair" (Edinburgh, 2001), and "8th Time of the Writer" (Durban, South Africa, 2005).
Received a grant for literature from the National Arts Council of South Africa (2002-2003) and a fellowship at Château de Lavigny International Writers’ Residence in Lausanne, Switzerland (June 2004).
