Born 1982 in Karlsruhe/Germany.

Martin Beck studied philosophy, general and comparative literature and political science in Hamburg/Germany and Berlin/Germany.

As curator and author in the art field he was collaborating on To show is to preserve, Halle für Kunst, Lüneburg/Germany (2008), fake or feint, Project Space, Berlin Carré (2009), and lobby (installation and bar) Berlinale Forum Expanded (2010) as well as numerous reviews, essays, and catalog texts.

He is currently finishing his PhD project about the transcendental foundation of image theory at FU Berlin. A central concept is the distinction of three models of the rationality of the image (technical, poetical, energetical). Their presuppositions are shown paradigmatically in Kant’s theory of mathematical construction, Hegel’s theory of aesthetic externalization, and Adorno’s theory of aesthetic apparition.

In 2014, Martin Beck received a cooperation fellowship of the Graduiertenkolleg "Sichtbarkeit und Sichtbarmachung. Hybride Formen des Bildwissens" of the University of Potsdam/Germany and Akademie Schloss Solitude.
