Born 1974 in Oberndorf am Neckar.

He studied architecture at the Bauhaus University Weimar and at the ETH Zurich (diploma 2001 und dissertation 2008).

Selected essays and projects: »Umnutzung Fliegerhorst Oldenburg«, international urban landscape competition, Oldenburg, 5. prize (2005); »Critical, Post-Critical, Projective? – Szenen einer Debatte« (Scenes of a debate), essay in Archplus 174 (December 2005); »Everyone is talking about the weather – atmospheric spaces and immersive environments between critical reading and projective practice«, essay in Archplus 178 (June 2006) and lecture at the Stylos conference »Projective Landscapes« at the Technical University Delft/Netherlands (2006); »Dekonstruktion gestern und heute« (Deconstructions yesterday and today), podium discussion in the series »Standpunkte« (Points of View) at the Swiss Architecture Museum, Basel (2007).

Since 2002 Fischer works as a freelance architect in Zurich and as a research associate at the gta institute of the ETH Zurich, where he will be a visiting professor in fall 2008. In 2005 he was a fellow researcher at the Graduate School of Architecture at Harvard University. 2004/2005 he was awarded the Weimar Fellowship of the Klassik Stiftung.

Ole W. Fischer founded the »MittelBau« discussion platform at the ETH. He is the co-organizer with Reto Geiser of the »Explorations« events series for the Swiss pavilion at the Biennale di Venezia 2008, and he is the co-editor of the recently published book »Precisions – Architecture between Sciences and the Arts«, Berlin: Jovis, 2008.
