Born 1975 in Leonberg/Germany.

Sonja Füsti studied visual arts at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Stuttgart/Germany. At the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe/Germany she was a student in the field of scenography among others of Michael Simon, Penelope Wehrli and Tilman Raabke.

During her studies she was part of the artistic team for Christoph Schlingensief’s Church of Fear (Biennale di Venezia, Schauspiel Frankfurt), Bambiland (Burgtheater Wien) and Wagner Rallye (Ruhrfestspiele Recklinghausen). In 2005, Sonja Füsti received her diploma with a media staging of Georg Büchner’s Lenz.

She worked as an assistant for stage design for such institutions as the Göteborgs Operan in Gothenburg/Sweden and the Schauspielhaus in Bochum/Germany, 2006/2007. From 2007 to 2009, Sonja Füsti worked for the Münchner Kammerspiele in Munich/Germany, where she designed the costumes for Invasion! (2008, directed by Jorinde Dröse) and Hauptschule der Freiheit (Secondary School of Freedom, 2009, directed by Peter Kastenmüller, Christine Umpfenbach). In 2010, Sonja Füsti was responsible for the scenography of Chris Kondek‘s and Christiane Kühl‘s project Übermorgen ist zweifelhaft/2012 (The Day after Tomorrow is Doubtful/2012) at the Münchner Kammerspiele. This was followed by the joint productions Money – It Came From Outer Space at the HAU in Berlin/Germany, and Even the Dead are Not Safe From the Living, which was produced by the Mousonturm in Frankfurt am Main/Germany.

Sonja Füsti was a Solitude fellow in 2009 and returned for a second stay in 2011.
