Vadim Bolshakov works as an associate professor of psychiatry at the Harvard Medical School in Boston and is director of the Cellular Neurobiology Laboratory at the McLean Hospital in Belmont.

He received his PhD in neuroscience from the Sechenov Institute of Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry in St. Petersburg and afterwards conducted postdoctoral research with Steve Siegelbaum and Eric Kandel at the Columbia University in New York.

Vadim Bolshakov is an expert in the field of learning and memory, including research on the seat of fear, and has published many key articles on cellular mechanism of learning.

He received the Klingenstein Fellowship Award in the Neurosciences (2001) and the Independent Investigator Award from the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (2006).
