Every two years since 2003, the public foundation and residency program Akademie Schloss Solitude hosts a summer master class for young composers. This year's Summer Academy 2017 will be held under the direction of Chaya Czernowin together with the guest instructors Johannes Schöllhorn and Samir Odeh-Tamimi.

For the sixteenth time, Akademie Schloss Solitude is granting approx. 70 residency fellowships of three to twelve months in duration. Application deadline is November 30, 2016 (Postmark).

The first novel of author Katharina Bendixen from Leipzig was published
01. September 2016

In August 2016, the debut novel of the Leipzig author and Solitude fellow Katharina Bendixen has been published with poetenladen Verlag Leipzig. The novel Ich sehe alles (I see everything) deals with a young woman moving to Budapest to dare a new start. Once there, she slowly notices that neither the new town nor her host family are what they seemed to be.

Juliane Götz receives this year's ESO-residency

Former fellow Juliane Götz and the artists' collective Quadrature have won this year's ESO-residency. The result of the residency will be presented at the Ars Electronica Festival 2016 in early September in Linz.

On Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at 8 p.m. Solitude fellow Myriam Van Imschoot and Doreen Kutzke present an evening of yodel, broken voice, and portrait at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart. The program of the evening includes the voice performance Hola Hu and the film Yodel Portrait Doreen Kutzke.

On October 18, 1988, the artist Johannes Cladders raised a white flag on the former demarcation line between east and west Jerusalem. In honor of this unique campaign, Akademie Schloss Solitude introduced the »White Flag Day« 20 years later in 2008.

Chronicles of Solitude – world premiere at FIDMarseille 2015

On July 2, 2015, the film Chronicles of Solitude by Manuel Ferrari premieres at the 26. International Film Festival Marseille. Chronicles of Solitude was filmed during his stay at Akademie Schloss Solitude. A special screening will be held during this year's summer festival of Akademie Schloss Solitude on July 18, 2015.
