A new residency program in Namibia for artists from Germany working across the fields of visual arts, literature/journalism, and digital practices. We especially welcome Black persons and/or persons of African descent living in Germany. The residency program is a project by Akademie Schloss Solitude in cooperation with the National Art Gallery of Namibia and the Goethe-Institut Namibia.
Akademie Schloss Solitude together with the National Art Gallery of Namibia and the Goethe-Institut Namibia is establishing a new residency program that will be committed to a long-term artistic and cultural exchange between Namibia and Germany. With this call for applications, we will offer artists from Germany, especially persons of African descent living in Germany, the opportunity to apply for a fellowship in Namibia.
The residencies are organized in the framework of the project »Colonial Heritage – Shared Futures« which aims for a collective engagement with the histories of colonial relations between Namibia and Germany and the development of new forms of artistic narratives around this topic. The project is curated by the Namibian historian and activist Memory Biwa.
Artists across the fields of visual arts (also encompassing performance, sound, and socially-engaged art), literature/journalism (encompassing prose, poetry, as well as digital journalism), and digital practice (encompassing digital art, computing, hacking, gaming) can apply for a four-months residency. The fellowship will provide the opportunity to engage artistically with the project’s topics restitution/reparation, cultures of remembrance, and digital colonialism. You are welcome to apply until June 27, 2020.
