The Akademie Schloss Solitude is very happy for Ebru Nihan Celkan, Jean-Jaques-Rousseau-fellow in 2019, who was appointed Ludwigsburger Stadtschreiberin 2020 (City writer of Ludwigsburg 2020).
A jury of experts selected Ebru Nihan Celkan from eight nominated authors. In addition to the recognizably great willingness to engage with the City of Ludwigsburg, the literary quality and the strength of her artistic attitude were also evaluated. Reason for the second award of the city writers' grant: With the support of the Wüstenrot Foundation and for the first time this year, the City of Ludwigsburg organizes a literature festival in cooperation with the Department of Art and Culture, the City Library, and the Adult Education Centre Ludwigsburg. Among others, this festival will present the Ebru Nihan Celkan’s work as City writer.
Ebru Nihan Celkan was born 1979 in Adana. She works as an author, dramaturg, teaches dramaturgic and performative writing at several universities, and leads workshops about women’s rights, gender equality, and diversity. Since 2014, she has been writing for the Turkish daily newspaper Evrensel and give advice to NGOs. In her plays she deals with the taboos and grievance of the Turkish society. In 2019, Ebru Nihan Celkan was a fellow of the Jean-Jacques-Rousseau-program at the Akademie.
