Sie erhielt 2000 ihren Bachelorabschluss an der Sooreh University of Teheran in Filmregie. F\u00fcnf Jahre sp\u00e4ter erhielt sie ein Diplom in Screen Arts (Film und Fernsehen) vom Central Institute of Technology in Perth\/West Australien.\r\n\r\nSeit 1999 arbeitet sie aktiv als freie Schriftstellerin, Regisseurin und Produzentin vieler kurzer und spielfilmlanger Erz\u00e4hlungen und Dokumentarfilme. Au\u00dferdem begann sie 2013 als Dokumentarfilmredakteurin zu arbeiten.\u00a0Sie realisierte unter anderem die Filme Profession: Documentarist<\/em>\u00a0(2014),\u00a0Scenes from a Divorce<\/em>\u00a0(2015),\u00a0Poets of Life<\/em>\u00a0(2017) und Invisible<\/em> (2019). Au\u00dferdem ist sie f\u00fcr den Schnitt zahlreicher Dokumentarfilme verantwortlich wie beispielsweise\u00a0Hey Humans<\/em>\u00a0(2016) des renommierten iranischen Filmemachers Rakhshan Bani Etemad sowie den pr\u00e4mierten Film\u00a0Fest of Duty<\/em>\u00a0(2014) von Firoozeh Khosrovani.\r\n\r\nIn ihren Dokumentarfilmen kombiniert Shirin Barghnavard soziale Themen mit einem besonderen Fokus auf der Rolle der Frau in der Gesellschaft. Im Kollektiv mit sechs weiteren iranischen Filmemacherinnen\u00a0realisierte sie 2014 den Film Profession: Documentarist<\/em>. Anhand ihrer pers\u00f6nlichen Geschichten als Dokumentarfilmemacherinnen, die sie in sieben Kapiteln erz\u00e4hlen, werden die Schwierigkeiten deutlich,\u00a0denen die Frauen sowohl in ihrem Beruf als auch im Alltag w\u00e4hrend der Wahlen sowie der politischen und \u00f6konomischen Krise im Iran ausgesetzt sind.\r\n\r\nAusgew\u00e4hlte Auszeichnungen:\u00a0Special Jury Award des 14. Green Film Festival in Seoul (2017), Bester Dokumentarfilm beim 4. Afghanistan International Women Film Festival (2016),\u00a0Tim Hetherington Award beim Sheffield Doc\/Fest (2014),\u00a0Audience Award des Cairo International Women's Film Festival (2014),\u00a0Jury Award des Mumbai Women International Documentary Film Festivals (2014).\r\n\r\n\u200bDerzeit ist Shirin Barghnavard Mitglied der Iranian Documentary Filmmakers Association (IRDFA) sowie Akademiemitglied der Iranian Short Story Film Association (ISFA). Von Oktober 2017 bis Januar 2018 war sie die zweite Stipendiatin des Harun Farocki Stipendiums in Berlin.
