In what ways does sensing\u2014both embodied and technologically mediated\u2014constitute a practice of environmental care? How do different mediums of ambient attunement, specifically sound and air, call for different ethics and activism?<\/span>\r\n

Friday, September 18, 2020: Workshop with Sophie Dyer and Sasha Engelmann<\/strong><\/h3>\r\nSophie Dyer<\/a>\u00a0(researcher, designer, activist London\/UK) and\u00a0Sasha Engelmann<\/a> (creative geographer, activist, London\/UK) will lead a whole-day\u00a0open weather\u00a0<\/a>workshop in which participants will explore feminist approaches to weather sensing and embodied methods for decoding satellite transmissions. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have their own DIY satellite ground station to generate unique weather images from meteorological satellites.\r\n\r\nNumber of participants is limited. Saturday, September 19, 2020: Multisensory walk with Nerea Calvillo and Naomi Waltham-Smith<\/strong><\/h3>\r\nNerea Calvillo<\/a>\u00a0(researcher, architect, London\/UK) and\u00a0Naomi Waltham-Smith<\/a>\u00a0(philosopher, sound theorist, Warwick\/UK) will guide participants in a 3-hour multisensory walk in the area around Nordbahnhof, exploring how DIY air pollution sensors and portable field recorders reconfigure embodied practices of environmental sensing, opening up a prosthetics of care.<\/span>\r\n\r\nThe day will conclude with a panel discussion among all four researchers at 6 pm.<\/span>\r\n\r\nPlease register in advance until September 14, 2020:<\/span>\r\ns.sadzakov@akademie-solitude.de<\/a><\/span>\r\n\r\n \r\n\r\nThe workshops will be held in English.
