The jury reasoned its choice by saying that Draesner is \u00bbat home in many literary genres\u00ab and has \u00bbdeveloped her own form and language for each one\u00ab. Most recently, she had demonstrated her skills in her artist's novel \u00bbSchwitters\u00ab.\r\n\r\nBorn in 1962, the author has published a wide range of eloquent poetry, short stories and novels, trenchant essays, as well as travel books and translations, and in all her books she proves to be a master of dense descriptions of thoughts and a precise observer of the present. In 1996 Draesner was a fellow and from 2015 to 2017, she was a juror at the Akademie Schloss Solitude in the practical field of literature.\r\n\r\nThe \u00bbGro\u00dfer Preis des Deutschen Literaturfonds\u00ab is awarded annually and financed by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media.
