For this series, Sander places untreated canvases in unusual locations and exposes them to the local environmental conditions over extended periods. Instead of traditional painting techniques, the works emerge through natural weathering processes. The pieces realized at various sites in Iceland reflect Sander\u2019s long-standing interest in the interplay of material, time, and place.<\/p>\r\n<p data-start=\"936\" data-end=\"1242\">Karin Sander studied in Stuttgart and New York City and has held professorships at the Wei\u00dfensee Academy of Art Berlin and ETH Zurich.
