Hiba G. Isleem is a Palestinian artist working across video, animation, and installation. Her practice examines the shifting relationship between matter, movement, and memory, often transforming everyday materials into active visual presences.

Over the past year at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Isleem has developed several video installation projects while also engaging with research connected to her family archive. Moving between personal narratives and material exploration, her work investigates how images, objects, and gestures carry traces of time, memory, and transformation.

The exhibition RESTLESS brings together a selection of earlier video works that focus on the moment when matter begins to move and act. Machines, electrical fragments, tree roots, and repetitive gestures appear not as passive objects but as entities that gain presence through motion. Through subtle animation and repetition, the works create a space where the boundary between object and living form becomes unstable, and where matter reveals its restless, animated potential.
