New music, music theatre, performance and more can be experienced at the Theaterhaus Stuttgart at the festival Der Sommer in Stuttgart from 25.07. to 27.07.2025. Every July since 2007, the musical summer festival has offered young composers from the city and the region in particular a promising platform for experimental music.
This year, Marie Gamillscheg (former Solitude fellow in the sphere of practice Textual) and Mert Moralı (current fellow in the sphere of practice Aural & Physical) are taking part in the diverse programme. Together they will present the radio play performance BLAU MACHEN on Sunday, July 27, 2025:
»We encounter a city that has turned gray, in which people are haunted by experiences of blue – the blue flashes up, covers perception and tears a gap in the present. Pain and healing are almost indistinguishable. People become addicted to this experience. Soon, however, politics becomes interested in the power emanating from the blue and instrumentalizes it for its own purposes.«
In their first joint work, the two artists explore the boundaries between word, sound and sight and ask where an encounter is possible and where it is prevented. With Text and Composition, they want to learn to »see« in order to sharpen perception and awareness in a deceptive and fraudulent present.
