We warmly invite you to the online launch of the Web Residencies No. 21 »Polymorphic Futures«. Together with the curator Barbara Cueto, the six selected Web Residents will present their projects and share insights into the artistic processes developed during the residency.
What futures emerge when blockchains are understood not as engines of financial speculation, but as infrastructures for collective imagination? How might decentralized systems foster new forms of belonging, governance, and care? And what happens when tokens signify solidarity rather than scarcity, when protocols are designed for emancipation instead of accumulation?
The six Web Residencies projects explore these questions and the social, aesthetic, and political potential of blockchain as a medium for worldbuilding. They range from speculative white papers and interactive experiments to living archives, and engage both more-than-human entities and diverse communities.
During the launch, the artists will present their work through various formats, including activations and open Q&A sessions. The contributions will take place simultaneously across different breakout rooms.
Participating artists are beatnyk, Laura Fong Prosper, Rok Kranjc, Joshua Kroon, Lam Lai, and Pavan Vadgama — together with curator Barbara Cueto and Sarah Donderer.
The event will take place via Zoom. Please register by March 24, 2026, by emailing webresidencies@akademie-solitude.de. The access link will be sent by email.
The event will be held in English.
