Solitude Encounters brings fellows of Akademie Schloss Solitude into conversation with people from Stuttgart to talk about their work, ongoing questions, and artistic or research processes. Open to the public and held in English, the series invites the city’s audiences to listen, ask questions, and take part in an open exchange.
Lily Abichahine, performing artist, lawyer and current fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude, will talk to Hans D. Christ, artistic co-director of WKV. Together, they explore the relationship between artistic imaginaries and legal realms, and how both are shaped and challenged by institutional constraints.
Lily Abichahine is an artist and researcher whose work explores the relationship between art and law. A PhD candidate at Paris VIII University, her research focuses on fiction in legal and artistic representations, with particular attention to tribunals as performative spaces. Currently based in Stuttgart, she seeks to create situations of dialogue -opening spaces where discussion can unfold – and to translate complex legal knowledge into accessible forms. Drawing on regulations and their anthropology, her work reflects onheritage and collective memory, moving fluidly between visual arts (installations and video) and performance (monologues and staged assemblies).
In 1996, Hans D. Christ co-founded Hartware MedienKunstVerein in Dortmund together with Iris Dressler as an independent platform for the presentation of contemporary art. Since 2005, the two have jointly directed the Württembergischer Kunstverein in Stuttgart. Since 1996, key projects of the curatorial team Dressler/Christ have included, in addition to various large international exhibitions, workshops, film programmes, and research projects.
