Presentation & Showcase
of the Sound & Body seminar at the ABK Stuttgart
Rachel Gill, in collaboration with the students of the ABK Stuttgart, present process-based improvisations from the Sound & Body seminar.
The presentation explores improvisation as a practice of devotional presence, yielding to what is unknowable as a generative space of encounter across the ambiguous terrain of movement. The practice acts as a porous record, where material moves from bodies to voices to image and back again, a feedback loop born of its own ephemerality.
A fanzine produced alongside the course serves as a poetic archive of the group’s process and as a resource for others to begin their own improvisation practice.
Rachel Gill is a dancer and amateur filmmaker based in New York/USA. Her practice highlights the relational possibilities of performance and analog film, favoring physically demanding improvisation, slowness and tactility, and forms that resist immediate legibility. Rachel Gill is a fellow in cooperation with the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart.
