On March 24, silent green Kulturquartier in Berlin will transform into a resonant space for the written word. UNESCO World Poetry Day celebrates the significance of poetry, the richness of linguistic heritage, and the importance of oral traditions. Since its inception in 2000, the Haus für Poesie has organized the central German event in collaboration with partner institutions. This year, six international poets will once again take part, crossing boundaries between languages and genres — among them Solitude fellow Jeannette Hunziker.

An evening dedicated to the art of words: from Jeannette Hunziker’s precise lyric poetry to the renowned Czech poet Petr Hruška, and the powerful multilingual works of Tania Skarynkina. From award-winning prose debuts to profound volumes of poetry, this selection reflects the full range of contemporary literary expression. Also participating are Julia Cimafiejeva, Nikola Huppertz, and Matthias Nawrat, all of whom are shaping today’s literary landscape with their distinctive perspectives.

Jeannette Hunziker is a 2025/2026 fellow of the Akademie Schloss Solitude. She writes poetry and prose and was a finalist in the Open Mike competition in 2008. Her prose debut Für immer alles was published in 2024 (Lenos Verlag).

Held under the patronage of the German Commission for UNESCO. A joint event organized by the Haus für Poesie and the German Commission for UNESCO, the DAAD Artists-in-Berlin Program, Kulturstiftung Schloss Wiepersdorf, the Czech Literary Centre, the S. Fischer Stiftung, the Akademie Schloss Solitude, and the Internationales Künstlerhaus Villa Concordia Bamberg.
