Current and Former Solitude Fellows Present Their Research at FLOATING BERLIN
Invitation to the Group Session: Ways of Knowing – Opaque, Turbid, Situated on Thursday 31.07. at 17:00 PM.
Fabian Faylona
We are pleased to warmly invite you to the upcoming group session at Floating University Berlin.
As part of the event, current fellows of Akademie Schloss Solitude will present their ongoing projects and open them up for discussion.
Ways of Knowing: Opaque, Turbid, Situated
This program is dedicated to practices of knowing nature(s) that move beyond extractivist logics.
It takes as its point of departure the concept of a Right to Opacity by Édouard Glissant, which invites alternative forms of relation—beyond exploitation, legibility, and the reduction to transparency.
The participating artists and researchers explore this mode of thinking within the specific context of the Floating University. In response to the site and its conditions, they propose perspectives that foreground the turbid, the situated, and the ungraspable.
Guiding Questions:
How can we move beyond the prevailing notion that knowledge is only achieved through complete penetration and revelation?
What alternative modes of sensing and understanding might help foster new relationships between humans and the environment?
What challenges arise when translating the more-than-human into language, knowledge, and practice?
