Naufus Ramirez-Figueroa receives the Mies van der Rohe-fellowship 2017
The Guatemalan artist Naufus Ramirez-Figueroa receives the Mies van der Rohe-fellowship 2017 of the city of Krefeld, Germany endowed with 5000 euros. The five-person jury based its decision on the fact that Naufus Ramirez-Figueroa connects art and everyday life in a unique and mostly colorful way. »In his projects he uses a broad formal language, that expresses itself in a variety of his artistic productions from sculpture, drawing and photography to performance. Thereby he formulates his own temporal narration, which raises questions about identity, body and space«, explained the jury members.
The exhibition, which is part of the the award, opened on February 19, 2017 in Museum Haus Esters in Krefeld. Further information can be found here.
Naufus Ramirez-Figueroa was a fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude in 2011.
