Born in Córdoba/Argentina in 1986.
Agustina Comedi is a filmmaker based in Buenos Aires/Argentina. She holds a degree in Literature from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (UNC, 2008). In 2017, her debut film El silencio es un cuerpo (Silence is a Falling Body) premiered at the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam/Netherlands (IDFA). The film received multiple awards and has since been screened at over sixty international festivals.
In 2019, she wrote and directed Playback. Ensayo de una despedida (Playback), which won Best National Short Film at the Mar del Plata International Film Festival. It was also selected for the Berlinale Shorts Competition, where it won the Teddy Award (2020). The film was screened at over 130 international festivals, including the Jeonju International Film Festival, Hot Docs, Melbourne International Film Festival, New Films/New Directors, and Vancouver International Film Festival, among others. Both her first feature film and her first short film were curated by Nan Goldin in a special program for the Metrograph Theater in New York City/USA and exhibited at the Museo Reina Sofía in Madrid/Spain, as well as Tabakalera, San Sebastián/Spain.
In 2024, she premiered We Were No Desert at the Vienna Shorts Festival/Austria, a co-direction with the visual artists Chiachio & Giannone.
Agustina explores the intersections of archive, memory, and fabulation in her work. She is currently working on her second and third feature films.
