Benigno Mangovo

Born in Cabinda/Angola in 1993.

Benigno Mangovo currently resides in Luanda/Angola. He immersed himself in art from a very young age, discovering painting and drawing as means of expression. Between 2017 and 2022, he refined his skills by studying Art at Mawete Studio in Luanda.

His art reflects his personal experiences, exploring themes ranging from perception to spirituality, including memories, interpersonal relationships, and the connection between man and the places he inhabits. Mangovo uses painting and film as mediums to communicate his visions and interpretations of the world, creating works that invite reflection and contemplation.

In 2022, Mangovo was selected as one of the artists participating in the second edition of the NESR Art Foundation artist residency in Angola. His artistic journey continued to expand when, in early 2023, he began another artist residency, this time in Morocco, organized by the Arkane Association. In 2024, Mangovo held his first solo exhibition with the Portuguese gallery THIS IS NOT A WHITE CUBE in Angola, curated by Jamil »Parasol« Osmar.
