Philo Tsoungui is a Berlin-based drummer, producer, and composer working across music, performance, and sound-based research. Their practice engages with rhythm and temporality as material and conceptual forces, exploring how time, body, and technology intersect in musical production.

Tsoungui has collaborated with artists such as Fred again.. and The Mars Volta, and their work has been presented at institutions including Neue Nationalgalerie Berlin and Haus der Kulturen der Welt. Recent projects include on mentonymy//bloodlines (2024), an audiovisual work commissioned by HKW Berlin, as well as a composition for string ensemble developed during their fellowship at Beethovenfest Bonn, Bonn/Germany (2024).

During their residency at Akademie Schloss Solitude, Tsoungui is developing a hybrid electronic performance system conceptualised as a »human drum machine«. This research investigates the political and cultural implications of sound, genre, and musical technologies, while examining the conditions and limits of embodied musical practice.

Philo Tsoungui is the recipient of the Female Producer Prize (2024) and the German Jazz Prize (Drums, 2025) and is a stipend recipient of Stiftung Arvore (2025).
