Born in Muncie, Indiana/USA in 1993.
Rachel Gill is a dancer and amateur filmmaker based in New York/USA. She studied Dance Performance at the State University of New York at Purchase (BFA, 2012–2016) and is a certified Pilates instructor. She works as a performer in contemporary and experimental dance.
Her practice highlights the relational possibilities of performance and analog film, favoring physically demanding improvisation, slowness and tactility, and forms that resist immediate legibility. Gill received a Ucross Foundation Fellowship (Wyoming/USA, 2023) and a Foundation for Contemporary Arts Emergency Grant (2024) for her choreographic work The Eight Positions or Could This Go On Forever?.
Recent projects include performances in Terrapin (2025), a Clairo music video directed by Ayo Edebiri, featuring Weird Al Yankovic, choreographed by Marc Crousillat; Arena Momentum (Dia Beacon, New York/USA, 2023–2024), a series of engagements surrounding Rita McBride’s Arena sculpture conceptualized with experimental performance collective discoteca flaming star and choreographer Alexandra Waierstall; and Anna Thérèse Witenberg’s Heat (PAGEANT, New York/USA, 2024).
Rachel Gill is a fellow in cooperation with the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart.
