Born 1990 in Medellín/Colombia.

Ramona de Jesús is a poet, essayist, translator, and reader. She grew up between Bogotá and Mumbai and has been living in Germany since 2009. She studied Cultural Studies at Jacobs University (BA, 2009–2013), Comparative Literature at Freie Universität Berlin (MA, 2013–2017), and Creative Writing at Universidad Nacional de Tres de Febrero in Buenos Aires (MA, 2020–2022).

She has been invited to poesiefestival berlin, the Latin American Poetry Festival Latinale, Helsinki’s poetry festival Runokuu, and the Poetryfilm Tage in Weimar. In 2021 she received the writer’s stipend for non-German literature awarded by the Senate Department for Culture in Berlin. Her English translation of Viaje a pie by Colombian philosopher Fernando González was supported by the Jan Michalski Foundation fellowship (Switzerland). Her poetry collection Dos metros cuadrados de piel was awarded Colombia’s National Poetry Prize for Unpublished Work in 2020.

She currently lives in Oberbösa, Thuringia, where she translates the work of Friederike Mayröcker, for which she has received a translation grant from Deutscher Übersetzerfonds.
