The Build the Love You Deserve performance is a peek inside the relationship between the artist Fei Liu and her do-it-yourself robotic boyfriend, Gabriel2052. It takes place in an intimate setting and audience members are encouraged to interact with the story and manipulate its plot. By using such techniques, the artist invites the participants to consider and challenge the future of a smart robotics industry centered on male-pleasure. She proposes an alternative trajectory–one that empowers female knowledge and embodiment through making.
