The Akademie Schloss Solitude warmly invites you to the event Dramaturgy Today, featuring a keynote by Friedrich Schirmer, short contributions from former fellows of the Marie Zimmermann Fellowship, and a concluding panel discussion on Why We Need Dramaturgy.
Foresight and attention to detail, curiosity and expertise, keen intuition and bold decision-making, a sense of mission and sensitivity – these are all essential qualities for dramaturgs in their work. Their responsibilities range from season planning to the development and supervision of projects, as well as internal and external communication.
Few areas shape the profile and overall impact of a theater as profoundly as dramaturgy. Yet, despite its omnipresence, it often remains invisible. Dramaturgs navigate the intersections of multiple interests – for the ensemble, the directors, the audience, and the institution itself. How do they continuously recalibrate their compass and fulfill their responsibilities?
These questions will be explored in a panel discussion featuring Anna Gubiani, Sarah Israel, Frederic Lilje, and Alexander Schreuder, among others.
