Born 1985 in Weimar.

Since October 2005 Anna Maria Volkland is a student of dramaturgy at the University of Music and Theater Leipzig (projected diploma in dramatic production for 2009) and member of the Leipzig Dance Theater Company (head: Irina Pauls).

Founding member of the association Werkstattmacher that supports young artists and experimental stage forms at the LOFFT in Leipzig, among others, dramaturgy for dance, theater as well as a mobile detective radio play. In 2008, own workshop (concept and production): »Guljat! Russenabend (Winterversion). Eine partyzipatorische Lecture Demonstration zum Feiern auf Russisch« [Guljat! Russian Night (Winter Version). A Partycipatory Lecture Demonstration on Celebrating the Russian Way].

Diverse assistances and own projects in dance theater, film/video, performance, among others in Leipzig, Dresden, Erfurt, Bedzin (Poland), Lodz (Poland). Projects and training in intercultural communication with dance and theater. Worked, among others, at fabrik Potsdam – Internationales Zentrum für zeitgenössischen Tanz und Bewegungskunst (2007), at the DOK-Film-Festival Leipzig (2007), for the radio play production »Ruhe_1« by Paul Plamper (2008) as well as dramaturgy and co-direction for the performance series »record dances« (performative space investigation for dancers and musicians) at Bauhaus Dessau (2008).

Volkland has been awarded the Marie Zimmermann Fellowship for the support of young dramatic producers, which has been granted for the first time in 2008, upon the recommendation of the dramatic producer Carl Hegemann. The fellowship was endowed by Friedrich Schirmer, since 2005 manager of the Hamburg Schauspielhaus, in memory of his wife, the dramatic producer and festival manager Marie Zimmermann, who died in 2007. The fellowship holders will be announced annually on April 18, the anniversary date of Marie Zimmermann’s death. The fellowship of 5000 Euros is tied to a two-month stay at the Akademie Schloss Solitude.
