With Caroline Douville, Benigno Mangovo, José Morbán and Tina Graf

As an international artists’ residency, the Akademie Schloss Solitude supports the local engagement and networking of its fellows within Stuttgart and the region. The exhibition Elsewhere, Somehow at Parri Blank presents works by current Solitude fellows Caroline Douville (*1993, Montreal/Canada), Benigno Mangovo (*1993, Cabinda/Angola), and José Morbán (*1991, Santo Domingo/Dominican Republic). Tina Graf (*1997, Taitung/Taiwan) is currently a fellow at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris.

Working across drawing and painting, the four artists explore questions of memory, perception, and experience in a present shaped by movement, shifting contexts, and overlapping realities. Their works create open pictorial spaces in which personal histories, landscapes, and fragments of reality intersect.

The exhibition can be understood as a structure of superimpositions and refractions – a space in which different perspectives converge and new meanings emerge. Elsewhere, Somehow describes a state of in-betweenness: a practice unfolding across places, times, and realities, in which images and identities remain in constant transformation.
