»My Father Has a Gun« by Ana Mendes (fellow 2016) is nominated for the 30th Bamberg Short Film Festival
The documentary »My Father Has a Gun« (2019) by Ana Mendes (fellow 2016) is nominated for the 30th Bamberg Short Film Festival, which takes place from January 27 to February 2, 2020. In her documentary, Mendes tells the story of her father as a young soldier, during the Portuguese colonial war in Guinea-Bissau, while speculating about the role of photography on the business of war.

Ana Mendes, born 1973 in Tomar/Potugal, is a writer and artist. She works and lives in London/Great Britain, Berlin/Germany and Vienna/Austria. She studied animation film at the La Poudrière – École du Film d’Animation, Valence/France (2008), photography at the Bauhaus-Universität Weimar, Germany (2012), and finished an MA in Writing for Performance at the Goldsmiths College, University of London (2011).
