Performance and exhibition opening with Nika Rukavina at Palermo Galerie Stuttgart

On June 23rd, Nika Rukavina will commemorate the opening of her exhibition Don’t be so emotional with a performance taking place from 11 am–7 pm and a subsequent opening event starting at 7:30 pm at Palermo Galerie Stuttgart.

The phrase »Don’t be so emotional« was repeatedly drilled into the artist Nika Rukavina (fellow of Akademie Schloss Solitude’s Eastern European Network) during her childhood and had a major impact on her behavior and inability to deal with her emotions. In her performance, the former Solitude fellow chisels this phrase into stone to reproduce the pain inflicted on her, after which she smashes the stone to free herself from her past traumas. At the end of the performance, the audience is invited to write their sentences on plates and break them to metaphorically free themselves from their own traumas.
