Statement of the Akademie Schloss Solitude on the situation in the Middle East

Akademie Schloss Solitude is deeply concerned with the recent escalation of violence in Israel and Palestine, as well as the polarization of public discourse.

We were deeply shocked by the terrorist attacks in Israel. We condemn the Hamas terror attack on Israel, and especially its targeting of the civilian population. We are against any glorification of such acts. We stand in solidarity with everyone who has lost family members and friends in Israel, in Gaza and the other Palestinian territories.

As a haven for international artistic exchange, Akademie Schloss Solitude is committed to diversity, freedom of expression and respectful coexistence. We actively condemn discrimination and violence in all its forms. The current conflict challenges us as a community of artists, scientists and cultural workers coming from all kinds of backgrounds. The Akademie fosters a respectful environment for open discourse, critical dialogue, and mutual understanding.

We are concerned for the safety of fellows, friends, and their families in the region, and for all those affected by war worldwide. We support all those committed to peace and call on all parties to silence their weapons as soon as possible.
