Born 1940 in Vilkaviškis/Lithuania.

Alfonsas Andriuškevičius is a poet and art historian. He studied at the University of Vilnius from where he also took his doctoral degree. Andriuškevičius explored a number of different disciplines, including ethnography and philosophy. Currently, he teaches at the Vilnius Academy of Arts.

Alfonsas Andriuškevičius has written several books in the discipline of art criticism, four poetry collections and an essay collection. In 2007, he was awarded the Lithuanian National Prize for his works Rašymas dūmais (Writing with Smoke) and Lietuvių dailė 1975-1995 (Lithuanian Art 1975–1995).
