Alya Sebti is the director of ifa-Galerie in Berlin (Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen) and has been the guest curator for the Dakar Biennial 2018. She was the art director of the 5th edition of the Marrakesh Biennial (2014). Among her recent exhibitions are: Kolmanskop Dream, the solo exhibition by Pascale Marthine Tayou (ifa-Galerie, Berlin, 2017); In the Carpet, group exhibition in partnership with Mouna Mekouar and Salma Lahlou (ifa-Galerie, Berlin, 2016); Caverne, solo exhibition by Hicham Berrada (Wentrup Gallery, Berlin, 2016).

From 2012 to 2014, she created a cycle of exhibitions and online publications, on contemporary art in Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia with Arte East. In 2016, she was a teacher/instructor/professor, at the Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts: On Curating, translating polyphony. She is co-editor of the publication Pas de Deux, which was a follow-up of the residency program she organized at Villa Romana (Florence, 2014), her latest publications include: Une voix à travers les images (an essay for the catalog of Gregor Hildebrandt exhibition, Sterne Streifen die Fluten), Carrefour / Treffpunkt  (catalog of the exhibition 2015), Biennale de la terre à l’espace de rencontre (Akademie der Kunst, Germany, 2014).

She wrote and gave conferences on art and the public sphere in different places like: Hartung Foundation/Written Art Foundation (France, 2016), Biennial of Thessaloniki (Greece, 2015), University of Addis Ababa (Ethiopia, 2015), Le Cube – independent art room (Morocco, 2015), Kunstquartier Bethanien /Transmediale Club (Germany, 2016), Akademie der Kunst (2014), Liverpool Biennial (England, 2014).

Alya Sebti is a board member of the International Biennial Association.
