Andreja Kargačin

Born in 1999 in Novi Sad/Serbia.

Andreja Kargačin is a freelance artist based in Belgrade. Her practice spans theater, dance, performance, visual art, and literature.

In 2018, Kargačin completed her training in contemporary dance at the Ballet School in Novi Sad; in 2023, she graduated in Theater Directing from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. She is a co-founder of the dance collective Četa – štab za savremeni ples.

Her recent works include the theater production Dora or Who is Going to Stitch the Wests?, which she conceived and directed at Bitef Theatre, Belgrade (2025–2026), and which was presented at the Wiener Festwochen in 2026, as well as the performance and installation Paranoia Raum at Flutgraben, Berlin (2024). Also in 2024, she created the dance documentary Holopartizanke as part of Kaleidoskop kulture in Novi Sad. Other works include the research and exhibition project Clara’s Dollhouse at Palazzo di Monte del Pietà, Gradisca d’Isonzo (2023–2024), and the performance Sonata for Violin and Cornfields, Op. 1946, which premiered in Venice in 2020 and was further developed between 2020–2022 for the festival B#Side the River in Gradisca d’Isonzo.

Her awards include the Iskre kulture Award for outstanding artistic achievements by young artists (2024) and the Novica Tadić Award for her poetry collection Leisure Days of Elena Ceausescu (2023).

In 2026, Andreja Kargačin is a fellow at Akademie Schloss Solitude as part of the Solitude Exchange Network, in cooperation with STATION Service for Contemporary Dance in Serbia.
