Born 1976 in Vienna.

Bernhard Dechant studied psychology from 1997 to 2000 and from 2000 to 2003 acting at the Franz Schubert Seminar in Vienna. He works as an actor and director. From 2004 to 2008 Dechant was part of the ensemble of the Theaterhaus in Jena/Germany.

Recent projects (selection): »Mein bester Freund Klaus« [My best friend Klaus], reading by and with Klaus Kinski, Vienna and Jena 2008; »Don Quichotte«, director, Jena, Dresden, Berlin/Germany, 2007; »Braveheart«, directed by Alice Buddenberg, Jena and Braunschweig/Germany, 2006.

Dechant currently works at an adaptation of Wolfgang Borchert’s Draußen vor der Tür (The Man Outside).

In 2008 he won the audience award of the 100° Festival in Berlin.
