Evan Gardner received his bachelor of music from the Oberlin Conservatory, OH/USA (2000) and his master of music from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Munich/Germany (2008), where he studied with Prof. Matthias Pintscher.

In 2010, he worked on several projects, for instance a commission from Ultima Oslo Contemporary Music Festival for the Arditti Quartet in Oslo/Norway; a piece for the Ensemble Contrechamp, commissioned for the concert Génération Nouvelles in Geneva/Switzerland; for the JACK Quartet, commissioned by the International Summer Course for New Music, Darmstadt/Germany; and for the Bergen Filharmoniske Orkester, Bergen/Norway.

In 2006, Evan Gardner received the Palme d’Or at the Festival de Cannes for the best music in the genre short film. He was a fellow of the Akademie Musiktheater heute, Frankfurt am Main/Germany, and in 2010, he was selected as composer of the International Summer Course for New Music, Darmstadt.
