Gift Uzera

Born in Namibia in 1993.

Tjijandjeua »Gift« Uzera is a Namibian performer and interdisciplinary artist whose work weaves movement, voice, archival research, and spatial installation to explore queerness and cultural memory.

His practice moves between stage, film, and exhibition contexts, engaging sound traditions and embodied storytelling. Recent projects include Rhythm Reborn at HELLERAU – European Centre for the Arts Dresden/Germany (2024–2025), Resonant Bodies: In Motion, In Sound at the Goethe-Institut Namibia (2025), Land at the National Theatre of Namibia (2025), and Unwritten Archives – Reconstructing the Past at Schwere Reiter, space for performance, experimentation, and networking in the fields of dance, theatre, and music, in Munich/Germany (2023).

He contributed to the exhibition Entangled at Rhodes House, University of Oxford (2024–2025). Uzera was a fellow at Theatertreffen International Forum (2025) and artist-in-residence at the Akademie für Theater und Digitalität in Dortmund/Germany. His screen work includes Hand-Holder and Der Vermessene Mensch (2023).
