Born in 1973 in Nördlingen.

Helmut Dietz started studying at the State Academy of Visual Arts in Stuttgart in the classes of Prof. Werner Pokorny, Anet van de Elzen, Anna Tretter and Prof. Udo Koch in 1999. In 2004 he continued his studies on an Erasmus of Sokrat’s scholarship at the University of Art and Design Helsinki/FIN and completed his artistic education from 2005 to 2007 as a master-class student with Prof. Udo Koch. In 2008 he received the postgraduate’s support of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg.

His debut exhibition Fluctuating Construction at the State Academy of Visual Arts in Stuttgart (2008), the single exhibitions Moving Images with Under Construction in Istanbul/TR and Planet Pizza Odyssey, a teamwork with Jan Löchte at the Kunstraum Laichingen (2007), as well as the works at public spaces in Rotterdam/NL within the EXP.edition (2009), the conceptual sculpture for the traffic circle in Leutenbach at the Rems-Murr-Kreis (2008) and the co-operative work Gedenkstätte 25. März 1933 in Creglingen (2005) document Helmut Dietz’ already extensive work spectrum.

With his performances Helmut Dietz has taken part in numerous group exhibitions, most recently in Rotterdam/NL (2009).
