Born 1976 in Tokyo/Japan.

Hiroko Tananashi graduated from Tisch School of the Arts‘ Film and Television Program at New York University (BFA) and received an MFA in Multi Media Design and Technology from Parsons School of Design, New York.

In 2006 she was awarded the Franklin Furnance Award «Future of the Present» and in 2004 she received the Bremer Autoren- und Produzentenpreis [Bremen Authors and producers prize].

Selected projects: »skinSITEs«, multimedia performance series which was presented in Salamanca/Spain (International Festival of the Arts Catilia und Leon), Rijeka/Croatia (Summer Nights Festival) und Porec/Croatia (Street Art Festival), 2008; »contrabass«, Radialsystem, Berlin/Germany, 2008; »Express Fight Club: A Chorus«, Tanznacht Berlin 2008; »Figure 8 Race«, Internationales Tanzfestival NRW 2008, »Monumental X-Mas«, Taipei Artist Village and German Cultural Center Taipei, 2007.

Hiroko Tananashi was invited to residencies all over the world, among others, Iceland (2009), Japan (2009), Denmark (2008), Taiwan (2007), Croatia (2005-2007) and Germany (Künstlerhaus Lukas, 2006; PACT Zollverein Essen, 2006).

Since 2002 she has been living and working in Berlin where she produces theatre and dance performances with her company post theater [new york / berlin / tokyo] whose artistic co-director she is. The company’s productions were shown at international festivals and in 15 countries.
