Born 1959 in Mühlhausen/Thüringen.
 
Iris Reuther studied architecture at the Hochschule für Architektur und Bauwesen Weimar (today Bauhaus-Universität) where she also completed her doctoral degree in 1989. She worked as an architect for urban planning, is the owner of the Büro für urbane Projekte (office for urban projects), and holds a professorship for urban and regional planning at the University of Kassel.
Iris Reuther is a guest of the art, science & business program during september 2012 in conjunction with a sabbatical.

kleiner, klüger, kooperativ – Gemeinschaftswerk Lutherstadtumbau (smaller, smarter, cooperative – Gemeinschaftswerk Lutherstadtumbau) Concept, realization and exhibition for the international building exhibition IBA Stadtumbau 2010 in Saxony-Anhalt.
koopstadt – Integrierte Stadtentwicklung Bremen, Leipzig, Nürnberg (koopstadt – integrated city-development Bremen, Leipzig, Nuremberg), concept and research monitoring for a pilot-project on national city development politics, 2009-2012.
 
Iris Reuther received the European Award for Urban Planning for the masterplan Bitterfeld-Wolfen (1999) and a special prize in the national competition »Städte besser gestalten 2009« for the project Lutherweg (2009).
