In 2004 4! Group was founded by Michal Grochowiak, Marcin Gwiazdowski, Jakub Jasiukiewicz who were all students at Academy of Fine Arts in Poznan/Poland. It is a collaboration/creative support group with a main focus on the area of video art.

They attempt to redefine notions that are deeply rooted in society’s consciousness. Recurring subjects are among others the fear of the unknown and the problem of a compromise between nature and culture. In 4!s works, images balance on the border of the aesthetics of film and classical painting. Above all, 4! Group aims to evoke curiosity, and to provide only thus much information and aesthetical pleasure, that is necessary to break the ignorance.

Selected exhibitions: »Manual«, Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw (2008); »Wanted, Rag Factory, London (2008); »Videomedeja«, The Museum of Vojvodina, Novi Sad (2007); Diesel New Art Exhibition, Betonsalon, Vienna (2006); Dritter Berliner Kunstsalon, Berlin (2006).

Jakub Jasiukiewicz, Michal Grochowiak and Marcin Gwiazdowski are participants of the exchange program between Akademie Schloss Solitude and the Center for Contemporary Art, Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw.
