Born 1977 in Piasenczno.

She studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Warsaw. In 2002 Nowak graduated from the Painting Department under the supervision of Prof. Leon Tarasewicz.

She makes series, including »Templates«, »My Bedclothes«, as well as drawings on walls and video projections.

Marzena Nowak had many solo exhibitions in Warsaw, Cracow and Vienna, e.g. »Cutouts« in the Foksal Gallery, Warsaw (2003), »Schnitte und Muster« in Pavillon Piroschka rev (KulturKontakt), Vienna (2003-2004), »Obrazy« in the Starmach Gallery, Cracow and 2005 »Private Property« with A. Kakhidze in the Wizytujaca Gallery, Warsaw and a exhibition in the Gallery Kosak, Vienna. Between 2002 and 2005 Nowak took also part at many group exhibitions, e.g. »Absolut Generations« at the Venice 50th Biennale (2003), »Compilation 2112m2 Europe« with H. Czerepok in Hainburg/Donau (2004) and »Otwarcie, poczatek« in the Lokal 30 in Warsaw (2005). 2004 Marzena Nowak exhibited at the 35th Art Basel and the Art Poznan.

In the same year she was awarded for an artist in residence Scholarship in Vienna. 2003 Nowak received the Henkel Young Artist Prize and the first prize of the »Konkurs im E. Gepperta« (Gallery BWA, Wroclaw).

Marzena Nowak is a participant of the exchange program between Akademie Schloss Solitude and the Center for Contemporary Art, Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw.
